
本研究所成立于2003年3月,英文名称为Institute of Western Classical Philosophy,Sichuan University (简称:IWCPSU )。
本研究所立足于我校古希腊哲学与中世纪哲学研究基础,结合海内外学术力量,引入现代学术的问题意识和研究方法,培养该领域的后备人才,逐步形成古希腊哲学与中世纪哲学的研究特色与科研队伍。
本研究所自建立之日起,即有计划地搜集古代希腊、教父时期、中世纪哲学直至文艺复兴时期为止的经典著作和研究资料,着手建立有关古希腊哲学与中世纪哲学的数据库和资料中心,定期举办学术研讨会,有规划地翻译古希腊和中世纪的哲学著作,积极出版研究专著。
研究所的近期规划:
1、系统翻译与介绍古希腊、中世纪和文艺复兴时期重要的哲学经典著作。
2、在四川大学开设古希腊语和古典拉丁语,满足宗教、哲学、历史、外语等相关学科的需求。
3、建立四川大学古希腊与欧洲中世纪哲学资料室。
4、积极与国外、港台学术机构建立联系。

The Institute was established in March 2003 and its English name is Institute for Western Classical Philosophy of Sichuan University (abbreviation: IWCPSU).
The institute is based on the research foundation of ancient Greek philosophy and medieval philosophy of our University, combined with academic strength at China and abroad, introduces modern academic problem and research methods, cultivates reserve talents in this field, and gradually forms the research characteristics of Ancient Greek philosophy and medieval philosophy with the research team.
Since its establishment, the Institute has collected classic works and research materials from ancient Greece, the Godfather period, medieval philosophy until the Renaissance, and set out to establish a database and information center on ancient Greek philosophy and medieval philosophy. Hold academic seminars, translate ancient Greek and medieval philosophical works in a planned way, and actively publish research monographs.
The institute's near-term plans:
1. Systematically translate and introduce important philosophical classics from ancient Greece, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
2. Open ancient Greek and classical Latin lessons in Sichuan University to meet the needs of related disciplines such as religion, philosophy, history, and foreign languages.
3. To establish the Ancient Greek and European Medieval Philosophy Reference Room of Sichuan University.
4. Actively establish contacts with foreign, Hong Kong and Taiwan academic institutions.

Junyan Song conducts research in Platonic philosophy (especially Neoplatonism), Western mysticism, and ancient Roman religion. He has published several articles on these subjects in renowned journals such as Apeiron and ΣΧΟΛΗ. He serves as the international assistant of the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies (ISNS) and is a full member of the International Plato Society. In 2025, he was awarded the Platonic Foundation Research Grant by the distinguished Platonic scholar John Myles Dillon. Selected Publications:
